WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO HAVE A CLEANING AS A CHILD?
Dental cleanings are important for all ages. However, it is especially important to establish healthy habits at a young age and schedule regular dental visits. Our doctors are able to recognize any problems that may affect the overall function of your child's health and dentition.

WHAT YOUR CHILD'S VISIT MAY INCLUDE:
- Dental X-rays (if necessary)
- Dental cleaning
- Diagnosis of cavities or dental anomalies
- A dental exam
- Fluoride application

We look forward to providing your child with a positive dental experience. If you have any questions, feel free to contact one of our team members at Perimenis Dental Group.

Dental X-Rays

DENTAL

X-RAYS

Regular dental exams can't spot everything going on inside your mouth. While we can get a good look at your teeth and gums, we can't see what's going on below the gums or down in the bones or roots. Much information can be gleaned from dental X-rays. Our dentists can use the information they gather from your X-rays to spot problems and develop an accurate treatment plan.
What you can see on a dental X-ray:
- Abscesses/cysts
- Bone loss
- Tumors
- Tooth decay
- Developmental abnormalities
- Tooth and root positions
- Problems inside a tooth or below the gum line

If our dentists can catch dental problems early, we can help stop the issue from getting worse and save you the headache and cost of having these issues treated.

ARE DENTAL X-RAYS SAFE?
Dental X-rays do produce radiation, but only low, safe amounts. When you stop in for a dental X-ray, you won't be exposed to enough radiation that would be considered dangerous. We at Perimenis Dental Group make sure you'll be safe during an X-ray by using lead apron shields to protect your body while the X-rays are being taken.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD DENTAL X-RAYS BE TAKEN?
A new X-ray should be taken upon the visit for your first appointment. After that, X-rays will be recommended based on your medical history, age, risk for disease, or any interesting findings in previous X-rays that we'd want to keep an eye on. Full mouth X-rays should stay relevant to your medical record for three to five years.

Sports Mouthguard

SPORTS

MOUTHGUARD

If you play contact sports, you know the potential risk you're exposing your teeth to. It's likely you may take a hit to the mouth at some point. To protect your mouth and teeth from the impact of a hit, sports mouth guards can be worn to cover your teeth.

At Perimenis Dental Group, we can create a custom sports mouth guard for your by taking a quick impression of your teeth in our office. This impression will then be fabricated to fit your teeth comfortably. We recommend replacing your mouth guard once the season is over, since its effectiveness will wear down over time. New mouth guards can be fitted during a routine checkup.

PREVENTING BROKEN TEETH

Bruxism Nightguard

BRUXISM
NIGHTGUARD

Similar to a sports mouth guard, a night guard is used to protect the teeth. Bruxism is the medical term for clenching or grinding teeth. Usually, people grind their teeth at night, but it can also happen during the day. Nighttime clenching can lead to head or jaw pain, severe wear or chipped teeth, headaches and more.

In most cases the pain and discomfort are often associated with temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ). TMJ disorders can also cause a clicking sound or grating sensation when you open your mouth or chew. But if there's no pain or limitation of movement associated with your jaw clicking, you probably don't need treatment for TMJ disorder.

Treatment for TMJ disorder is a very simple fix. A custom fit night guard is designed to make the upper and lower teeth not touch when biting. It is worn at night and can alleviate and wear of the teeth.

CURING DISCOMFORT

Veneers

VENEERS

A veneer is a layer of material placed over a tooth to improve the aesthetics of a smile. This procedure requires little or no anesthesia and can be the ideal choice for improving the appearance of the front teeth.

Veneers are an excellent alternative to crowns in many situations. They provide a much more conservative approach to changing a tooth's color, size, or shape. Veneers can mask undesirable defects, such as teeth stained by tetracycline and damage due to an injury or as a result of a root-canal procedure. They are ideal for masking discolored fillings in front teeth. Patients with gaps between the front teeth or teeth that are chipped or worn may consider veneers. Generally, veneers will last for many years, and the technique has shown remarkable longevity when performed properly.

CUSTOM FITTED TO YOUR TEETH
Veneers are customizable, you can pick the shade and shape. Before the veneers are placed; molds, X-rays and images will be taken and sent to a lab to fabricate a replica of what the veneers will look like in your mouth. After they are fabricated to your desired appearance, they will be prepped and tried in before receiving the permanents. At the next appointment, the permanent restorations will be placed.

Perimenis Dental Group can help you transform your smile with our customizable veneer treatments. Ask our experts for a consultation on your teeth and let us make a comfortable veneer to enhance the appearance of your smile.

IMPROVING YOUR SMILE

Crowns

CROWNS

Not all your teeth will have the size or shape you want. Many teeth can be cracked or worn down, causing them to be shorter than others. There are other instances where a tooth may be lost, or a cosmetic problem causes discoloration or an odd shape.

If you wish to change the shape of a tooth that embarrasses you, Perimenis Dental Group has the solutions you're looking for. We offer dental crowns, also known as caps, that cover specific teeth and restore their shape and size.

ABOUT DENTAL CROWNS
Crowns can be recommended to increase the strength of weakened teeth and enhance their ability. You'll notice longer, strong teeth with a dental crown. At Perimenis Dental Group, we can cement these crowns into place on your teeth, encasing them for full protection.

Crowns are often necessary for the following scenarios:
- Filling Cavities
- A bridge for missing teeth
- Protection for dental implants
- Cracked or weakened teeth
- Restoration following a root canal
- Cosmetic reasons like discolored or badly shaped teeth

Contact Perimenis Dental Group today for a consultation on your teeth and have a crown customized to fix problem areas. You can trust the expert techniques used by our experienced team.

RESTORE YOUR TEETH

Invisalign

INVISALIGN

Invisalign is the clear alternative to braces. Remember wearing those chunky metal braces? That's the thing of the past. Invisalign treatment uses clear trays that are custom made for your teeth. These trays are removable and made to be worn comfortably over your teeth. After we customize them to your teeth, you can pop them on and wear them while they work to straighten out your teeth.

New sets of trays will be customized for your teeth every two weeks. If they are working properly, they will shift your teeth slowly into the proper alignment. Invisalign can help you enjoy straight, properly positioned teeth.

EFFECTIVE STRAIGHTENING
The advantage of Invisalign is that there are no uncomfortable metal brackets to worry about. Invisalign aligners are clear and fir comfortably.

They are hardly noticeable for either the patient or anyone looking at the patient's teeth.

Contact Perimenis Dental Group to ask if Invisalign is right for your teeth and set up a consultation to have your trays manufactured.

THE CLEAR ALTERNATIVE

Dentures

DENTURES

If you have missing teeth, you should think about getting dentures to replace them. Most people know dentures as artificial teeth and gums that can be removed from the mouth as needed. However, did you know that dentures can be used for all your teeth or for just for a few that are missing?

Perimenis Dental Group offers full and partial dentures to replace missing teeth wherever you may have them. This includes just a few teeth together or a whole row of teeth. Partial dentures may be a better solution for patients whose remaining teeth cannot support a dental bridge or for patients who are missing more than one or two teeth.

FITTED TO YOUR GUMS
If you need all your teeth replaced, Perimenis Dental Group can help with that, too. Our complete dentures can be fitted to the gums either on the top or bottom of your teeth.

Though they are fitted, they are removable as well. Suctions and oral adhesives may be used to get the results you're looking for.

Contact Perimenis Dental Group to restore the full smile you want with partial or complete dentures. Our team would be happy to create a mold that's perfect for you. It will look like you never lost your teeth!

TOOTH DECAY SOLUTIONS

Root Canal Therapy

ROOT
CANAL THERAPY

A tooth that has been greatly damaged by tooth decay and infection will likely suffer damage to its nerve. When this happens, the very life of the tooth is threatened. Tissue and nerves inside the tooth will be eaten away by bacteria. To save the tooth, a root canal is necessary.

During a root canal, damage tissue and nerves are taken out and the space left behind is filled with special medicated materials that will straighten and restore your tooth.

SAVE YOUR TOOTH
You may need root canal therapy if notice any of the following:
- Abscesses on the gums
- Sensitivity to temperature
- Severe toothache/pain
- Swelling/tenderness

Sometimes nerve damage may be taking place without warning for any symptoms. Make sure to get a regular checkup with your dentist to spot signs of tooth decay and infection. If you need a root canal, trust Perimenis Dental Group for the finest treatment around. Root canals are usually only needed once and can support your tooth for the rest of its life. Contact us today to save your teeth.

SAFE REMOVAL

Scaling and Root Planning

SCALING
AND ROOT PLANNING

Scaling and root planning is a treatment use to attack gum disease. The source of gum disease is found below the gum line, which is why we propose treatments that will clean deep down your gum line to stop the spread of bacteria and prevent the progression of bone loss.

WHY DO YOU NEED IT?
Gum disease thrives on bacteria present under the gum line. Scale and root planning specifically targets the toxins that cause problems on your teeth and down in your roots. Our scale and root planning procedure will target plaque, bacterial toxins, and tartar deposits from your teeth and gums.

If left untreated, gum disease can begin to cause your gums to pull away from your teeth and cause serious damage to your teeth and the bones under them. Scaling and planning will clean the pockets between your teeth and gums, removing plaque and protecting your gums. Trust our expert dentists with the help you need.

TARGETING GUM DISEASE

Implants

IMPLANTS

If you are missing one or more teeth, dental implants are the closest thing you can get to healthy, natural teeth. They are very similar to natural teeth because the screw is similar to the root of the tooth in the jaw bone.

Most patients with missing teeth are candidates for getting the procedure. However, each patient is different. After an initial consultation, your implant dentist will provide you with a treatment plan including the estimated amount of time to complete the process. Total treatment time depends on your needs, medical and dental history, jawbone condition, and the technique and materials used.

IMPLANT TREATMENT
Dental implant surgery is one of the safest and most predictable in dentistry. To help preserve the strength and beauty of your mouth and jawline, contact Perimenis Dental Group for a dental implant that will look and feel natural.

Our implants will fill the gap of missing teeth and help you enjoy the best smile possible.

Contact us today to schedule a consultation or make an appointment for dental implant surgery. We provide cosmetic dentistry for the Trumbull & Monroe, CT area.
